So anyway, overall, I have only good things to say about our local police. They come quick if you call them. They are very interested in whatever you might have to say. They communicate and follow up. They are professional.

Decriminalization of pot in NC is not legalization. The fact of the drug war gone on so long gives police a legacy mission of what many of us see as no more than ignorance at best and venal oppression politics at worst.

I will call the police if I think it is warranted. In Carrboro they will show up fairly quickly, which far as I am concerned is a very very important aspect. I got here as I was curious what was the outcome of my call prompted by 3:30 AM gunshots. I think some people get itchy to fire their pistols and see if they work down by the Estes basketball courts or in the bit of wild bird land and shot the thing off late like that and run back to their apartment and hide.

Seemed as if the officer was camped out where poor people shop looking for marks. The facts of cars and the State and Local governments expensive fines along with all other associated costs of course more harshly affect working people than well paid academics or those of the businesses catering to the hegemon.

Institutions are to be led by good spirited ideals of public service, and not be out for profiting of those who must struggle in an environment of low wages. So when the State leaders communicate to the police with policies aimed to generate capital funds to run things from the working classes use of automobiles and trucks, it infuses the policing institutionally.

I say that if your Police don't join Police Against Prohibition, you need different police leadership. Chris Blue hadn't even heard of the organization. Sheriff Blackwood isn't going to even think of it.

Captain Blue said the street police have a great deal of discretion far as marijuana possession is concerned, but that is obviously a recipe for corruption.

We just happen to live in a State that forces them to conduct drug raids aimed at increasing their status when the crop most likely to provide the cash to pay the taxes on moderate holdings of land is kept illegal.

I did have a problem about what I viewed as money making off the poor when I got a ticket for out of date inspection that I was unaware of.

I respect the job of protecting the people, and policing is hard, made harder by media antagonisms spread out of realities that exist more in other places, but as seen on TV make people often feel as if it is also their reality.

Not that the police of our community ought not be aware of the outside menace, but it is not illegal for someone to be a stranger in town, and it is disturbing that the policy stated is to stop strangers simply for being strangers.

At best it is 5 to ten minutes and that time of night nobody is really out to see them. Seems like once every couple of months we hear gunshots around here. Sound travels weirdly in the neighborhood like what happened to Napoleon or sometime during the Gettysburg battles, a sort of sound dead zone and mirage like travel of sounds.

Once the Drug war is ended, well then we may as well be returned to Mayberry Andy Griffith type community policing.
